Chat Clients - Safe or Not?

Introduction

For a long time, there exist only 3 well known windows Yahoo! Chat clients, YahELite, Cheeta Chat, and YChat.  But now, there are many more, but do all client comparisons review them?

Independent Findings

The 10 Chat clients listed on my webpage, have all been downloaded to my PC, and ran.  In addition to normal running, each was scanned with AVG, panda active scan and Simply Super Software Trojan Remover.
Not one of the clients was infected, suspicious, or raised any warnings under any of the scans.

Client Comparisons

Most pages that offer links, reviews and comments on chat clients list many more than the 3 clients and their variations (for example, yahelite has many smaller, limited versions).  But some exploit the fact their webspace is theirs, as it is, and list just the older, 3 clients.

Client Wars

Some of the accusations of clients containing key loggers, Trojans, viruses, and spy ware started when a few people tried to promote one client over another, or when people decided it would just be a good laugh to spam that X client had a Trojan, as is often seen in Yahoo! Chat rooms.

YahELite, Yazak, Y!Mlite

The 3 clients taking most of the abuse are the these 3.
YahELite - Some known trouble causers started posting false claims that YahELite is a Trojan.  This is false.
YaZak - This chat client has been taking more and more abuse since it first started.  At first just by a few who believe the author to be a bad person, just because the client did not log in the first time for them.  Recently it has been attacked by the same trouble causers who posted the rubbish about YahELite.
Y!Mlite - This chat client took a lot of rubbish from a few people.  Because of the author's attitude towards a regular chatter, it was instantly branded the client dangerous.  They also complain because of the internal name being the same name as another client.
