Microsoft Windows 98 Second EditionWindows98SE is an OS - Operating System. It is the main software that loads onto the computer and provides the graphical interface - hence the name, Windows. It provides the basic structure which is used by other applications (Software) in order to enable the user to get something done without having to know anything about programming. It was the graphical user interface that allowed the birth of the pc - personal computer. Anybody could use it, without any extensive training or knowledge. That, most people have little idea of all the Windows functions, just goes to prove this point. People who grew up with MS-DOS programs still may have a better idea. But from WIN 3.1 on, Microsoft has provided interfaces to click on for almost all the functions that most of the users would not be able to name the basic functions. In the next few pages, I have tried to list a few things that, I consider, are basic knowledge. Of course, there is a lot more that is possible, but demands a very good knowledge of the workings of Windows. I shall restrict myself here to everyday requirements. |
