Smiley Utility (now for Version 11!)

What is it?

It's a small utility which stays in the system tray, and when selected, offers you a list of all 117 Yahoo! Messenger smileys.  Also stored with each image is the code.  When you select a smiley, it will automatically insert the code into Yahoo! Messenger Chat. If you simply want to see the smiley codes, click here, but many people would rather have them all in one menu, like they should be on the chat screen, but aren't.

How does it work?

When you select a smiley, it looks up the code on its internal list and sends a window message to Yahoo! telling it to add the smiley code to your text. The program can be run from within any folder.

Can I use it in PM or a Chat Client?

You can use this for IMs. Simply tick the "Instant Message" box in the Options menu at the top.
Most chat clients have a complete internal list and this utility does not work with them. However, you can enable "Copy to Clipboard" from the menu and use Ctrl+V in your other client.

Do I need Yahoo! Messenger 11?

For chat you do, but not for IM. However, did you know you can use all the new smileys in Yahoo! Messenger 10?

Yahoo! Messenger 11.5

This utility works in Yahoo! Chat in version 11.5, however it does not work in IMs.
However, IMs in Yahoo! Messenger 11.5 now have a complete smiley selector built in.

1. Download here: Smiley Utility 11.
2. Look in your system tray (near the clock). You should see a smiley.
3. Click on the smiley and the menu will show. Click the smiley and the code will be posted into Yahoo! Messenger Chat.

The download requires Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 which is available on all modern Windows Operating Systems.
