Welcome

Welcome to the original and safest way  to amend the ads in Yahoo! Messenger.  Please Remember the advertisements in Yahoo! Messenger are there to pay for us to chat for no cost, and fund Yahoo!, and so you should not block the ads.  You may even find something in the ads that appeals to you!

Yahoo! recently changed the way that the adverts are displayed, and unfortunately this tool no longer works.

Download

Choose ONE of the following:
The first is easiest, second requires knowledge of extracting archives but is MUCH quicker download, third is easier than second, and a quick download.

Option 1

1. Save file to PC.
2. Open file, click "Unzip".
3. Run c:\noads\noads.exe.
4. Restart Messenger.
noadsse.exe - 64KB - Self Extracting

Option 2

1. Save file to PC.
2. Open file, extract to any location. DO NOT RUN noads.exe
3. Close file. Go to location you extracted to and run noads.exe.
4. Restart Messenger.
noads.zip - 3.12KB - Zip Format

Option 3

1. Download BOTH files into one place.
2. Run noads.exe.
3. Restart Messenger.
noads.exe - 4.5KB - Executable File - Save, do not open
noads.jpg - 0.7KB - Jpeg File - Right click and select "save target as..." and save to the same folder as noads.exe

Customise

If you wish, you can customise what is displayed. Currently a very small white space will be showed where the ads used to be.
Changing what is displayed is simple, simply open up the noads.jpg and edit it to what you like. This will be displayed in all the ad places, so you can make it small to fit them all, if you make it big it wont matter, you will just see parts of it, it wont make the other ads expand! Don't change the filename or location though once the noads.exe has been run!

CL's Messy's Menus

This program will utilise the ad space to put links to useful places, such as to help sites, Yahoo! Services, News sites etc...

Carbonizes Alternative

You can also do this through a registry import file.  Carbonize had the idea of using a smiley image from the Yahoo! Folder to replace the ads.  If you would prefer this method, download http://www.carbonize.co.uk/Yahoo/NoAds.zip .  Extract the zip file, run the .reg file, and wait for confirmation of modified entries.
