Email Clients

What is it?

Outlook Express is an offline EMail client. It allows you to download your emails from the mail server and read them offline. It allows you to compose your mail offline too. It allows for setting up multiple accounts, e.g. if you have a mail account at yahoo, one at hotmail and one at your local provider, you can operate all of them from Outlook Express. Outlook Express is a part of the Internet Explorer package.

Installing

To install Outlook Express, double click on My Computer then on Control Panel followed by add/remove programs. Look for Microsoft Internet Explorer in the listed programs, click on the Install/Remove button.  In the next window select Add a component. You will find Outlook Express listed under Communication Components. Careful! Bold type means that the component is already installed on your computer. Click on Next to start the installation and follow the instructions.

Alternatives

Netscape offers the Netscape Messenger as an E-Mail client, Opera also has a built in E-Mail client, works also well with Eudora Email. Which one you use is a matter of your taste. All E-Mail clients are pretty good. Eudora offers the most functions, but requires a bit of practice and time to get used to. If you are not using emails intensively, Netscape Messenger and Outlook Express are easy and fast to learn and use.
